Roman, Remember When I Read Your Hand?

Friday night at the home game, I read Roman’s crippling weakness pre-flop. We got into a little raising war pre-flop. I wanted to know if I was ahead with my pocket tens so I induced a tell. He practically showed me his cards and I knew he had bubkis, so I moved all in, and he folded, and I took down a nice pot before the flop.

Now I see that my move might have been a mistake. After I knew that he was probably way, way behind, and also knowing that he was in the mood to push with a weak hand, I should have called pre-flop and then just waited for him to push on the flop and called no matter what the flop was, since I was also probably very likely to be ahead on the flop. I might have made a lot more money that way.

Unlikely. You got me after what I felt was my last shell. Desperation was spent, and I didn’t have enough chips left to actually attempt a bluff.
