What do you write down in those notes on players? Things like Tight/Passive or Likes To Slowplay? I used to do that. Anymore though, I try to notice what level players are thinking on. 0th level, 1st level, 2nd level. You won’t find much deeper thinking than that in the donkey pens, but the difference between a 0th level player and a 1st level player can be enormous.
Lately I’m believing that correctly identifying how many levels deep a playing is thinking on gives you a much bigger edge than anything else I can pick up about a player online.

I usually give a specific story or two, which should indicate your “level” idea. I think it’s hard to truly crystallize someone down that far in a shortish period of time, and might actually be misleading. No more so perhaps than a specific story, but with a story, you have to take into account that they could just be tilting, etc.
