Bankroll Update

I currently have 36 buy-ins for $50 No Limit. Hopefully over the next week I can make the remaining 4 to hit my goal of 40 buy-ins before I move up.
This move has me feeling more nervous than the move from $10 to $25 for some reason. I don’t know if I should stick around [...]

Watching The Chips Slide Around

I see an attitude in online poker forums, and I hear the same complaints from live players: “I hate short stackers. They don’t know how to play the game right!”
Personally, I find it delightful to sit down at a poker table and see players who don’t know how to play the game right. But that’s [...]

Movin’ On Up

I’m moving up to $25 buy-in No Limit. I have 19 buy-ins, which is one fewer than the supposedly requisite 20 buy-ins, but since the rake will be half as much than it was at $10 No Limit, I think moving up one buy-in early is fine. And I’m setting myself a stop-gap of 17 [...]

Reminder

I’m doing well, but things bear repeating, at least to myself, so I don’t forget them.
At the donkey tables, if it looks like someone is putting on a brilliant bluff on a troublesome board, he’s not. He just hit his unlikely, stupid hand. Fold.
Focus on the game, not on the bankroll. There’s a lot to [...]

Best Hand Ever

I’m going to try to recount a hand from tonight’s home game.

Alan (SB)
Mike (BB): $15?
Me: $18?
Roman
Jim

My cards: 7h 4d
I open raise to 30c. Roman calls. Alan calls. Mike re-raises up to $1.10. I call. Roman and Alan fold.

Mike checks. I check.
Pot: ~$3

Variance

Up two and a half buy-ins in a one hour session. Now that’s more like it. Wouldn’t it be great if it was like that all the time.

How Many Times Can You Hit Set Under Set In One Day

The answer, apparently, is: Four!
I’m on a major downswing right now, which is a shame because I feel like the downswing has really sharpened up my game. I’m looking for and finding ways to snatch pots, and avoiding problematic abortive-pot-snatchings. I’m just failing to hit big hands, and then when I do hit the second-nut, [...]

My Luck Lately

I flop top set and the other guy open-folds.
Seriously.
